Unusual Spiritual Experiences in the context of Occulture

This work studies the environment of contemporary alternative spirituality in the Czech Republic, specifically unusual spiritual experiences and techniques for inducing them. It is based on long-term field research utilizing the method of participant observation carried out primarily in the environment of neo-shamanism, but also the use of psychedelics, dark therapy, and other movements and practices. I perceive and analyze these practices both as psychotechnologies - i.e. techniques through which their users strive to alter their thinking - as well as spiritual techniques aimed at establishing and cultivating a relationship with the spiritual world. The focus of this study is a comparison of neo-shamanism and other practices in three main aspects: the induction of experiences, the connection between spiritual experiences and the actor's life as a whole, and the changes in the perception of reality brought about by long- term practicing. I point out that in all these areas, techniques traditionally thought of as closely related exhibit fundamental differences. Rhythm in Drawing

Rhythm in drawing is a theme of this bachelor thesis. In my paper I pursue with a drawing like a means of fine art statement of particular emotions, gesture, opinion and rhythm either and its connection with drawing. I concretely profess to action art and performance art. The paper is made from three parts. In a theoretical part I refer on history of drawing, various techniques and modifications of drawing and I also refer on rhythm and its influences on a human. I describe artists from the second half of 20. century who use rhythm in their art work and I also introduce artists who inspired me with their own creation to my own artwork. In a practical part I show an origin, goings and results of my own artwork, which is connected with rhythm and drawing, with photo-documentation, video-documentation, back reflection and self-reflection. In the last part I present my art line of tasks for pedagogical use of action drawing in conjunction with rhythm within the framework of school lessons, which is partly inspired by my own artwork, that can be found in my practical part, and partly by everydayness. Dance with spirits: Ritual Jathilan as a mirror of the Central Javanese society

The thesis is based on a field research carried out on Java primarily in communities gathered around the ritual dance called jathilan - an ancient, exorcistic and unique trance dance which operates with a binary opposition of good and bad forces. The aim is to extend the field of knowledge about this ritual and to enrich the existing sources of the insight into the issue of participation in jathilan and related factors. Interviews with research participants bring unique testimonies that are set into the context of the Javanese rural community. The central topic of the study is the motivation and the experience of the participants of jathilan with emphasis on the central motif of jathilan - trance and kesurupan (obsession). Great space is also devoted to the religious dimension of the jatihlan and its reflection by the participants themselves. The thesis approaches this phenomenon from three perspectives: 1) As a way to strengthen local communities, popular culture and regional cultural identity. 2) As a manifestation of religious syncretism on Java and how this syncretism is reflected by the main actors in Jathilan. 3) As a dynamic social, artistic and religious phenomenon under transformative conditions. Altered States of Consciousness

This theoretical study contains a systematic analysis of altered states of consciousness. The study is based on a reflection of the qualitative altered states of consciousness, that offers some potential and attempts to describe altered states of consciousness in their complexity as well as to map all their aspects in a structured. It utilises the notion of consciousness to define the altered states of consciousness. The chosen method is to work with literary sources where an emphasis is placed on an interdisciplinary approach. The structure of the thesis is divided into three chapters. The key topic of the first chapter is an examination of the phenomenon of consciousness and interdisciplinary theories of consciousness. The second chapter is focused on the description and analysis of altered states of consciousness, concentrates on the history and methods of research of altered states of consciousness and delineates their basic characteristic and their functions. The last chapter divides the altered states of consciousness into categories and gives them a detailed description. The thesis ends with a final conclusion which brings an integration of the findings above mentioned with the focused on the second chapter. Styles within the Czech scene of electronic dance music

This diploma thesis is focused on the topic of electronic dance music and its genre classification within Czech music scene. The main part of the thesis defines seven primary genres of EDM from the historical and musical perspective, and consequently it divides them into the subgenres that the audience can meet on the Czech dance floors most frequently. Moreover, the thesis describes the origin, evolution as well as the current situation of Czech EDM. The thesis also concerns with the differences among the subgenres by means of the drum pattern notation and sonic samples.

Shamanism, Ancient Form of Human Religion and its Intercultural Features

I characterize the shaman{\crq}s figure and influence on the society in my work. Further I deal with shamanism, its development and mutual comparison of sha-manism in individual cultures. I characterize individual types of shamanic cultures and their geographical placement. Further I describe the way of performance of shamanic techniques and their goals. I also pay attention to a possible power role of the shaman. I also describe the basic shamanic cosmology. I go on comparing individual cultures and seeking differences. Then I perform general evaluation of all cultures and subsequently I consider the task and influence of shamanism in contemporary society.
